When washing your electric bike it is important to protect sensitive electronics from possible water intrusion by following the tips below:
- Do not use high powered pressure washers when washing the your bike
- Remove the battery prior to washing, then turn on the controller to discharge any stored energy in the controller
- Do not spray any electrical components such as the motor, controller, battery, or wiring harness with high pressure jets of water. An intermittent, low pressure spray is all that should be used on these components.
- Do not spray any bearings (wheel bearings, swingarm bearings, headset bearings) with high pressure jets of water.
- After washing, blow the bike dry using compressed air. Take care to gently blow standing water away from any electrical components.
- It is highly recommended to lubricate the chain after washing to prevent rust
- Headset bearings should be periodically checked and re-greased, especially after consistent washing.
