YZ-EMX Votol Installation Instructions

1. Ensure that the main connector is unplugged from the battery.
2. If another controller is already installed on the bike, turn the power switch on for 10 seconds after disconnecting the battery.  This will discharge any leftover power held within the capacitors of the controller.  Turn the power switch back off and remove the old controller.
3. Remove the old wiring harness.
4. Apply thermal paste to the bottom of the controller as shown (ensure that the protective plastic wrapping is removed from the controller).  Bolt the controller to the Mounting Plate (P/N: 210-2010) using four M6x20mm BHCS (P/N: 006-1020) as shown.  Note that the Mounting Plate is oriented such that the clearance notch is located in the upper right corner.

5. Install the Upper Controller Mount (P/N: 200-2033) to the Mounting Plate using two M6x16mm BHCS (P/N: 006-1016).  Install the Lower Controller Mount (P/N: 200-2032) to the Mounting Plate using two M6x12mm BHCS (P/N: 006-1012).

6. Install the controller to the bike using two M5x14mm SHCS (P/N: 005-2014) and two M5 Washers (P/N: 005-4010) on the Upper Mount as shown.  Use one M8x25mm Hex Bolt (P/N: 008-3025) and the OEM chain roller hardware on the Lower Mount as shown.  Motor wires may be constrained using the two holes in the Lower Mount.

7. Connect the motor and battery leads to the controller as specified in the table below.

Note:  It is extremely important that wires are run such that they do not rub on any sharp metal edges.  Wires should be checked at least every few rides to ensure that the housing material has not begun to wear through at any point.

8. Install the Votol wiring harness, running it down the left side of the bike and connecting the main plug to the controller.  Each connector on the harness will only have one corresponding connector on the other electronic components (throttle, power switch, Volt Meter, etc.).  The white 4-pin connector is not used and should be secured near the controller.

Note: It is strongly recommended that dielectric grease is used on all electrical connections

9. Once all leads are connected to the controller and the wiring harness is installed, re-connect the main power connector to the battery and reinstall all plastics.
