How do I remove the controller from the ETM RTR?

Your controller looks like this:

Note: Depending on your model, it may be slightly different, but all OEM controllers will resemble something of this nature.

To remove the controller:

1. Remove your battery -

  •  Disconnect Black QS8 Discharge connector and Yellow XT90 or XT60 charge connector
  • Unscrew the M6 knob and unhook the battery strap
  • Pull battery out

2. Turn key switch on (This will discharge any stored energy in the controller)

  • Turn key back off AFTER display flickers off

3. Remove the front panel - Pull from the side edge back to release, then you should be able to pull the top and then unhook from the bottom

4. Disconnect main harness (16-Pin Connector) and hall sensor connector (6-Pin Connector) from controller

5. Using a Phillips (PH2) / 8mm socket - Remove the battery lead (Black / Red) wires and the Phase wires (Blue, Green, Yellow)

  • NOTE: ETM RTR XL and Alpha will have a Phillips (PH2) / 10mm bolt head
    • ETM RTR XL and Alpha controllers also have a longer bolt and a standoff for the B+ and B- terminal

6. Move to the outside of the bike on the front - Remove the 4 M6 bolts from the 4 corners of the controller leaving the mounting plate attached only removing the controller
