How do I remove the motor from the ETM RTR / Rizzler?

Tools Required

  • 8 mm socket
  • 10mm socket
  • Ratchet with extension
  • Side cutters (if zip ties need to be replaced)
  • Torque wrench (recommended for reassembly)

1. Disconnect Power

  1. Remove the seat.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Turn the key switch ON for several seconds.
  4. Wait until the display goes dark.

This safely discharges any remaining energy stored in the controller.

2. Access the Motor Wiring

Remove the controller cover

Disconnect:

  • Three motor phase wires
  • Hall sensor connector

If any zip ties secure the motor harness, cut them if necessary to free up the motor harness

3. Document Wire Routing

Before touching the motor itself:

  • Take several photos of:
    • Wire routing
    • Entry into the frame
    • Zip tie locations

Electro & Company specifically recommends doing this because it makes installation significantly easier later.

4. Support the Motor

The motor is fairly heavy.

Support it with one hand (or a small jack/block) before removing the mounting hardware.

5. Remove the Motor Mount Bolts

Locate the four M8 socket-head bolts that attach the motor mounts to the swingarm.

Remove all four while supporting the motor.

6. Lower the Motor

Once the bolts are removed:

  • Lower the motor straight downward.
  • Feed the phase wires and hall harness out of the frame.
  • Be careful not to scrape or pinch the insulation.

7. Remove the front motor mount and rear motor mounts from the motor

  • Unscrew the M6x16mm flanged hex bolts from each motor mount
    • Front: 3 x M6x16mm
    • Rear: 2 x M6x16mm

NOTE: If you are sending in your motor for an RMA, Keep your motor mounts, DO NOT send them in
